I knew a girl who had this type of problems but didn't do a thing and ended up sterile, after like a million surgeries because she had cysts in both ovaries....

Seriously your mother can't be that stupid about it, she's a woman after all, she should know how serious this is... if not, the doctor could enlighten her! I'd rather be kicked out of my house than die because I was scared of telling my mom I had a problem...
