Instead of trying to talk to him about it, why don't you leave him alone with that, and bring him out. Invite him over with a couple friends. Have a good time with him. Bring places. As a brother, you can make him happier and see the good in life.

spend as much time with him. get him involved in different things. helping the poor, visit cancer patients, kids who had to undergo chemo therapy, etc, go let him read to the elders, let him see how his life is blessed.

i agree with all those, but i still don't think it should be completely all in your hands. i suggest you take him to a counseler/therapist as well.
