I respect the right to choose for themselves.
I may not agree, but I don't want to force people to change.

As long as they don't offend me, I'm fine with it.

people have the right to believe in whatever they want, but this should not give them the right to push their personal views on others, including their children, as doctrine.

i used to, but they didnt respect mine. now i decide which parts should be respected.

for example if people dont know the origins or reasoning behind a tradition and only perform it as their religion dictates that they must do so, i find it much harder for to respect their beliefs while they tell me that god will punish me for not believing in him (yes this has happened many times). eventually i decided that if people had a fair degree of understanding behind the tradition i would be compelled to respect their belief. otherwise i dont really give a shit

Although I may not agree with how they choose to believe, but I certainly respect their right to choose within reason.

God creates out of nothing. Wonderful you say.
Yes, to be sure, but he does what is still more wonderful:
he makes saints out of sinners.

If and only if they never use their faith to justify a normative claim that has any bearing on other people.

Voted no on the grounds that most religions almost by definition include normative claims with relation to other people.

I respect peoples faith to an extent. I do not respect the muslim faith, especially here in Australia. I do not respect peoples faith if they try to force it upon me. I do not respect religion and faith when it causes harm. I do not respect mormons. I do not respect people who stand on Flinders Street Station screaming out passages from the Bible and telling those who ignore that they will burn in hell.

I respect people with religious beliefs who can have an intelligent debate about religion without getting nasty, which can end on an agree to disagree but happy note.

I do not respect religions that start cults which involve brainwashing children. I do not respect priests who fuck children.

I do respect if someone tells me they believe in God. I respect them more if when they ask what I believe in, and they hear an answer, they simply smile and accept it.

I do not respect the content of your beliefs and I do not care if you are offended. However, I have a profound respect for your right to express your beliefs.
