Apologising for being too caring

I want to apologise to a friend for being too caring towards her. In future, I'm going to focus on ways to cheer her up and won't get so concerned about her (even though sometimes, she does give me reason to feel that way) . I want to apologise, but wanted to do it in third person, because she's already said that she's forgiven me, and so I just want to show her that I still feel bad about it.

How does this sound? Comments please. x

'Hi,how are you?' --> Me
'Good, you?' --> Becky
'Well, not so great actually. You see, there's this girl who is a great friend, and I feel like I've gone and messed up by being too protective of her. I just hate to see her unhappy, and when I tried to help it all went wrong. I know she's said that we should forget about what happened before, but I still want to make it up to her. So, how do you fancy meeting up again? ' --> Me talking about Becky

As long as it gets the point across and what you really want to say to her, that's what counts.  How you do it depends on you, what you're comfortable with, and what you think that she will be more comfortable with :).

I just wanted it to sound less heavy going. Plus, we've both said that being caring isn't a bad thing, just that we need to communicate about problems more in the future.
