Not three weeks after I moved from Iowa City to little itty bitty Dayton, my home is FLOODED! I'm glad I moved when I did. We have had crazy weather. We've been in the tubes (Unsafe shelter, FYI.) and Rides basement every other day. The flooding here at camp was crazy, but I didn't think it was so bad until Flicka suggested I look at pictures of Iowa City. My old house? Completely under water. The hydraulics lab is barely holding on. The Coralville strip...closed. If we hadn't gone our separate ways and moved when we did, we wouldn't have any place to live, and my moms work would have been put out of business. But we're dry up here now. The swamp that the camp was turned into is slowly going away, and this is the first time in weeks that my legs haven't been coated in mud and grass. We went to Fort Dodge today and the farms in between have lost so much money. Their crops are completely ruined. They have lakes in their fields. This is way worse than the ice storm we had last year. Who would have thought it could happen to us? -Sigh- I hope everybody is okay...

I'm a few miles out of Dayton. I was just in Fort Dodge, it didn't look bad at all except for this track that was under water.
I know a few people down in the 'flats' that had to evacuate last week because the river flooded their basements and yards, but it isnt nearly as bad as that, and in Des Moines. I hope it doesnt get that bad, but more rain and storms are in the forecast, Gosh Dangit.
