The forum shouldn't be canned. It's a perfectly good forum - there are a fair number of worthwhile topics in there even when searching the first five pages, such as: http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-itsbsa-support-a.html

I believe the forum just simply needs more moderation to clean it up and get rid of those stupid topics and posts you mentioned. I'm tired of looking over the first page, which is generally has all but a few topics pertaining to what the most attractive race is, people throwing the word nigger unnecessarily, or some trollish generalization meant to offend others. at some point you cant save the city for 10 innocent threads. Smite it. send the threads somewhere else to live in harmony. Seriously..there are other places these threads could go, usually things like Political Teen etc. This forum is past salvation.

The idea of having a forum at all is not just to organize the forums by dividing them into different subjects, but also to promote discussion regarding a certain topic. People look through the list of forums and they'll see a forum regarding race and nationality, which may intrigue them to look further and eventually culminate into that person making posts about race and nationality. People generally don't think outside the box and post something not covered in the list of forums - hence why you don't see many topics about history for example, though they often come up here and there as it is a fairly popular subject. It's reasonable to assume that posts regarding history would increase if a history forum were introduced. The same applies to race and nationality, as well as all forums. Canning the race forum and sending all topics pertaining to that subject to the political forum would thus discourage posts about race and nationality, which is a pretty worthy topic, in my honest opinion. It's pretty bad right now, but so long as there's activity in the forum (and there's plenty of it in the race and nationality forum), nothing's beyond redemption. It just requires a fairly active moderator telling these idiots to GTFO with clearly defined rules, stricter moderation of these rules, etc., which promotes more intelligent discussion as suddenly much of the stupidity of the forum is removed.
