Hey everyone!
I was wondering about the acoustic guitar. I'm still thinking about getting an acoustic guitar because 1. I only sing- I don't play any instrument (unless you count the recorder in kindie) 2. I really like country music and I hear acoustic guitar is great to play country music. Anyway, how much do they usually cost? What's a good brand to buy? Any other info? [:

About £70 here for extremely basic.

More advanced ones sell for about £400-£500 or more.

So that's $140 for basic and advanced $800-$900 (roughly)

if i where you, i'd buy a cheapo one for around £50 while your still starting out, and if you still want to play and enjoy playing in a year or two, buy a better one.
and yes, vocals and acoustic guitar are complimentary to eachother, especially in country.
i love ibanez guitars.
especially the acoustic.
however i really dont like fenders.

I had a fender acoustic guitar for a while, and it was great. I never really played it, though, and I ended up selling it on craigslist for about $80.

At a chain music store you can get a squier by Fender for 100-150$ As a begining guitar I would highly recommend it. Make sure you string it with extra light strings and but a tuner while you are there.

You can get a basic one at pawn shop or flea market from around $50-100- but beware of getting scammed. I usually use the general rule, "I ain't buying it unless I've heard of the brand." So if it's a brand you've heard of, then most likely it's decent.

There's also a place online that sells good music things such as this plus more called Musician's Friend. They have sales going on all the time and if you're not sure if you want to buy from them just yet, you can order their free catalog to come to your house each month. You can use it as a guide for when you're out and about looking for one.

I've ordered from them before and I was really pleased with them, as they're pretty quick and such.

Here's one of the really good deals going on there;

Ibanez JamPack IJV50 Quickstart Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar Pack (Natural)
Comes with everything- case, picks, strap, tuner, and guitar. All for around $100 (w/o s&h)

Their price ranges are pretty wide.  When buying a guitar, remember that you'll also have to buy a strap, some picks, and a tuner.  You should also get some new strings, since the factory strings are usually pretty bad.

As far as brands go, there's plenty of good manufacturers.  Seagull, Martin, and Taylor make some of the best that I've heard.  They make guitars for all budgets and levels of play.

i own a martin D16GT. damned expensive but i enjoy it oh so much. brandwise i know martin and taylor make some quality instruments.

generally speaking, play an instrument before you get it. if you order something online and it isn't what you were expecting, you're kind of stuck.
