I don't think I will be able to save that much. I mean last time $1200 was plenty.. I bought a whole massive suitcase worth of things and presents. I mean we won't be doing particularly touristy things either.

I think you'll be fine. The US dollar is WEAK and if you survived on $1200 for 7 days, then I'm sure you'll survive on $2000 for 9 days. Just pace yourself. Tell yourself that you can only spend a certain amount per day and don't go over it. That should help you plan your spending better and also possibly allow you to have leftover when you go home. Don't restrict yourself either. Have fun, go to nice restaurants and buy things, but also just know your limit. Hope you have a great time in New York. =)
