I understood that to be about the same percentage as in my home state.

Why are you shouting? Where did I claim that it had any bearing over your personal faith? You are acting irrational, more than ever.

Out of curiosity, Moridin, you never explained why anyone should care about this. Would you mind telling me?

Because he can't seem to answer his own dilemma?

While your in church reading the bible, we're out living life or reading books on how to get the average Christian to leave us alone.

Yes, but you're also Canada, and almost everyone short of the common idiot actually cares about what you generally believe.  I'm with Rare on this over the significance of your Atheism and how at all relevant it is in the grand scheme of this debate?

You actually have to read books on how to do that? You must be pretty stupid.

More than 1/4 of Canadians Don't Believe in a god

Fewer than three-quarters of Canadians believe in a god, suggests a new Canadian Press Harris-Decima survey.

"Religion in Canada today is not a particularly divisive subject and tolerance levels for different beliefs are high," said Harris-Decima president Bruce Anderson. "This is evident in the fact that one in four people feel comfortable saying they do not believe in a god."

The poll found 72 per cent of respondents said they believed in a god, while 23 per cent said they did not believe in any god. Six per cent did not offer an opinion.

Polls have told a different story in the United States.

"Canada's secularism stands in clearer distinction, when compared to the cultural and political influences of religion in the United States," said Anderson. "In one Harris Interactive study in the United States, conducted in 2007, the number who said they were non-believers was only eight per cent."

This is great news!

I agree, it is great that 72% of Canadians believe in God, hopefully they believe in Christ  as Lord and will ask for forgivenss, so their lives can be renewed and restored

Regardless of the point behind those statistics being posted, I think you'll find that they are inaccurate. In Australia, we have something around 60% of people proposing that they believe in Christianity, whilst the levels of church attendance are significantly less. I'm not suggesting that church attendance has a direct relation to someone's faith, but it does lead to questioning of the credibility of the statistics. I know many people that claim to be religious, simply because their parents said they were, it says so on their birth certificate, and they may have been baptised at birth. The majority of these people aren't religious in the slightest. Those statistics are never going to be a true account of the distribution of peoples faiths.
