"It's all academic really; we will outgrow religion as we've outgrown our belief in goblins and dragons. One day we will just accept our mortality, and get on with the business of living.:

Lets hope to God we never outgrow religion.  In fact we won't.  Every single sociaty has had a religion and I don't see that changing.

I don't see that happening anytime soon. And I'm interested, when was the last time people believed in goblins and dragons? Probably never.

Yes, because the percent of non-believers in the world hasn't doubled in the past decade or anything.

Oh, I'm sorry, American History doesn't go that far back, does it?

People did use to believe in demons, dragons, goblins, spirits... try Medieval Times, the big scare was dragons. Of course, most ancient civilisations believed in spirits. Particularly the Romans, and they were incredibly progressive and intelligent for their time. Hell, they helped Europe progress so quickly. A lot of these things were believed in till the mid 1700's, and possibly after.

Yeah, that's all bullshit, as we know now. I've never heard much about people believing that shit (goblins and dragons) before that as well, which leads me back to my original question.

Demons, spirits, they've been around for a while.

Why is Christianity such a rational belief while dragons and goblins are ridiculously absurd?  They have the exact same level of lore and evidence to their existence.

Think about this, if a religion consisting of goblins and dragons existed and you were a part of it, you'd probably think the Christian delusion was a load of nonsense too.

Hmm, is this not a statement about how ridiculous it is to uphold one myth and denounce another?
