People go onto their friends list, then find someone, go on their friends list, then find someone else, and so on, and when they find someone that they might want to add, they add them. Happens a lot.

Maybe they know her from a distance - like they've seen her around and know her first name, so they search for her. It's always a possibility :)

i don't use facebook, but on other things like that there are advanced searches, where you would put in where you live, what sex and age you were looking for, then you'd get pages of them people. facebook probably has a system similar to that.
