I went to Walmart today to buy a bike (don't need anything fancy) and helmet. my last bike from Wally World was $80 and PERFECT until some ass hat stole it one night. So i made $80 my budget tho i'd go a bit over if need be.

I ended up buying a red and white Mongoose mt. bike, the store sticker says Hyper vision and it has 84.68 printed on it (notice no dollar sign) i think "no way a mongoose for that little" so i ask the store guy and he says (uncertainly) Uh.. yep, that's the price, so i have him bring it to check out for me. the guy rings it up and it says $142.00. hUH!? I only left with it b/c i thought hey i can always bring it back.

I WILL BE! rode it down the sidewalk as soon as i got home and it felt tall in the store w/ the seat all the way down (so no room for adj.), it felt worse at home as did the thin seat and the kickstand is awkward on the rear axle, but the front disc brake stops well

I wanted to know when i return this bike tomm. what are good things to look for when picking another out?

when will i win the lottery?

I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like its got a basket a bell...

Pink Floyd =)

Anyways...
Picking out a bike isn't really a science. Just whatever you feel comfortable riding and looks like its good quality and isn't gonna like break in two weeks.

Don't buy bikes at places that aren't bike stores.  Walmart employees have NO idea how to put a bike together properly.  Save more money and go to a real bike shop--it'll be cheaper in the end.  Even if you don't have the cash, you can go to one and ask someone who works there to help you out.  Then at least you'll know what to look for.
