Engineers, a definite. Not only do you go on the peace keeping missions providing aid you really get to help the people by digging wells, building roads, making sure buildings are safe, building bridges etc. not to mention de-mining minefield along with the tasks the other soldeirs have of guarding the people - so you really do make a difference.

In a combat zone you make sure the defences are safe, you build the fortications and defend them also.

Not only that but if you leave the army ypu havea very useful qualification that can be used in the civilian career. And if youre an officer youre overlooking everything your planning how it will be done and your planning what will be done if youre attacked.

Everyone thinks the engineers dont do anything and see no action but the Royal Engineershave won more Victoria Crosses than any other egiment. My great Grandad was a royal engineer and won a medal for "bravery in the field."

trouble is, REME is more fun :P you get to play with tanks

We have them too, but they're RAEME. Royal Australian electrical and mechanical engineers.

You're right mate. Engineers are very well paid too, particularly in places like Iraq. Guess why? lol
