There should be an option to not subtract any points.  That way if you get warned unfairly there is no punishment.

I agree with this idea, that way people who do stuff that's like, ultra stupid and breaks half the rules of the site get punished more than people who just do stupid things and break one or two rules.

What I mean is, the amount of penalty points awarded(?) should be in relation to the amount of rules the member broke to actually GET the points in the first place.

A formal warning is something more serious so I don't see your reasoning for giving them the same amount of penalty points as the option for giving them for a non-contributive reply.
