I'm planning on bringing my laptop to the hospital, the laptop is a bit old, there's no built in LAN, so I have a wireless card, what are the odds i'll get wifi in the hospital?
(they have free wifi connection)

Not high.
Down in specific areas, sure, but probably not up in patients rooms.

It depends, most likely the hospital WiFi will be protected by WEP or WPA encryption. I know that the hospital that my dad works at does the same thing. There is no public free hotspot there.

I know for a fact that it's all public, I'm the one who posted the topic, that's just a posting acc while i'm warned.
It's ALL public, no encryption, anything.
I just want to know, is a wireless card strong enough to carry a steady signal?

they dont let you have cell phones on in hospitals so idk if wifi would be allowed either?
lol well hopsitals are generally big and cell phones aren't generally banned in all sections.. it'll depend where the person is going to stay

It should be able to, that's what they're made for, though it depends on how far the access point is from your location. I don't see why it wouldn't if the hospital has been covered with WiFi, the idea is to get as best coverage as possible.
