Not sure were your getting your info on inflation, since it is not a major issue and has not been for many years. Not to mention corruption is far less of a problem then in much of the world, especially in nations that reside in south america, africa, asia, and eastern europe.

And one last thing, high standards are a condition of a capitalist society. Only the best, or sometimes incredibly lucky, will make it in such a world. You might say it's not fair, but it is the most efficient system in the world.

Democracy to them meant mob rule, where 51% of the voters could take away the rights of 49% of the voters. It's a broken system we pride ourselves on, all the while increasing our deficit, which is in the trillions, and falling behind in medicine, academics, and technology. The people can't trust their government, which is a frightening though.

We couldn't afford a health care system. It would ravage the middle class and weaken the elites to give free health care to the poor because the cost would be staggering and the majority of its funding would come from said classes, and not from the groups that actually need it.

Well our nation could very well become a secondary player in the world in the relative near future, but i don't see our nation completely crumbling. I could foresee a move towards isolationism in term of foreign policy in the next 10-30 years. Don't forget this isn't the first time trust in the government has fallen, it's just the most widely publicized.
