I love space. I wanted to be an austronaut before I could even pronounce the word. And now, I still log in to the NASA site religiously and I don't think I will ever stop being amazed to see things like this...

They do in fact need a degree in something like medicine, biology, chemistry, physics, aerospace engineering or mathematics. And to keep it simple their job in space is to supply, repair, assembly and research. I know you said you didn't care, but I couldn't help it!

And thank you. If I do not actually become one, I would be happy just working for NASA.

You know your stuff!
As a kid i was always into planets and the solar system.
By 5th grade i knew so  much about the solar system i would always  pass the tests in school, and other classmates would want to study with me.
Then in middle school i kind of got  away from that, but i remember how  wise i was, and how  much i studied about space as a youngster.

That is really awesome! Kids always seem to love planets and stars.

Space is so full of mystery, how can you not find it interesting?! That is what I always thought anyway. Hahaha. I'm actually really considering majoring in biology, teaching in a school for like 5 years and then applying for NASA. I barely made it to apply as an astronaut. I am exactly 5'2", 62 inches is the shortest requirement. Hahaha. I work out four days out of the week and rigorously. My eye sight is perfect so I'm pretty good in those areas!

Despite what follows, I truly wish you the best of luck in whatever you do.

However, To be an astronaut is not so easy as applying for the spot and getting into training. Sure, you might be trained, but most of those accepted never get to see space, they are there as back-ups; just in case.

Though, with the growing international space-station and the constant need for cycles, we may see more and more astronauts going up after all.

By the way, you grow nearly two inches in space so if you do get up there, you'll be a nice 5'4" upon return.

I too love space. I'm studying to be an Aerospace Engineer, with a focus on trans-atmospheric vehicles and inter-planetary propulsion systems.

I'd love to go into space at some point in my life. Who knows, maybe I'll apply some day as well.

Yeah, I have researched it and I am definitely aware that it is more than having the right degree and applying to get this job. You need a certain height requirement, you need 20/20 vision, you need to maintain a healthy heart rate during the time that you are  being evaluated during exercies, your blood pressure cannot exceed a certain number. If you pass all of that, you still will be amongst hundreds, if not thousands of qualified people who want to go up in space.

I commend you for taking on something like aerospace engineering. I think it's something like, 2 years of just math courses (or, almost anyway), and another 2 years of just science classes. That can get very hectic! I really hope that you do well in everything that you set out to do though.
