So, I was downloading Safari and QuickTime today from apple's site. I had just reformatted the PC and figured I'd get back with Safari...very fast and I'm not into FireFox really.
Check out these speeds I got downloading from California, where Apple's webservers are to Orange County, NY...

But Apple uses Akamai's distribution network so that you get it from the server closest to you. It probably wasn't coming from NY.
