Cutting isn't healthy. You friend is right - there are better ways to deal with your problems. I think you clearly need to talk to someone here, be it a friend or a health professional. It's seriously unhealthy to keep all your problems bottled up inside, so I'd really reccomend that you talk to someone.

You haven't explained anything about why you're cutting, or why you feel the need to. I could help you some more if you maybe gave some more details, as I could then try and go through your problems one by one. I can give you a few tips about trying to stop cutting, though.

First, try having a hairtye or an elastic band around your wrist, and snap it whenever you feel the urge to cut. It'll give that sharp sensation you get when you cut, but it's without blood and the scars. If you're angry - punch a pillow, scream, or listen to loud music. Try exercising. It's a great way of giving off endorphins, and it will cheer you up. Go for a run, or if you're not into that, try going to exercise classes - kickboxing or martial arts are both great ways of letting off steam.

If you're struggling to talk to someone, write a diary. It's a great way to get everything off your chest without having to brave opening up to someone. Keeping everything inside will only lead you to become more depressed, so it's something I'd really advise if you're struggling to open up.

Best of luck, my inbox is always open if you ever want to talk :)

Perhaps you should try talking with a counselor about it, because it seems like you can't stop it on your own. They can give you support, advice, ideas, medication, etc; and help you overcome this.

Cutting is sometimes related to deeper issues, so talking with a professional could help you understand and even find out (In case you don't know what's causing it..) the problems that might acted as your trigger.

I think that you should talk about it with somebody because to overcome it you'll need support. You need to admit that you have this, not only to yourself, but to other people (The closest to you for the most part).

You should feel lucky for having people that care so much about you. Understand that they don't want to hurt you, they're just trying to help you. Don't take it as a personal attack! Ask them for support.

I completly agree with what Nikki said before, that's really beneficial and I think that perhaps it can be a solution for a little bit, because you do need to tell somebody and get help.
