ours is a lot worse than that ... luckily I don't have one =-]

*gets handbook*
If the teachers see it or hear it (doesn't matter how loud it is or how briefly they see it), they have to take it. For some reason, the teachers all seem to try to stress to the students how much pressure they're under to enforce this rule, so this is not something they're lenient with
ok, for the first offence, it's taken until parents come to get it
the second time, it's taken until the end of the semester. If it's the day before the end of the semester, they take it for 30 days instead.
the third time, It's taken until the end of the year. If it's the day before the end of the year, they take it for 30 days instead.
There was this big story down here about this trick the teachers/administrators played on some kids. A guy got caught right after he had sent someone a text message. After they took it from him, they tricked the person he was talking to into saying which class he was in at the time. That guy's phone was taken and the person he was talking to was tricked into saying which class he was in. Then his phone was taken, and so on. They kept doing this trick with every person's phone they confiscated that day. All of them had their phones taken and were written disciplinary referrals.
funny stuff
