It also came with 7 floppies labeled Microsoft Windows Operating System - Version 3.1

It doesn't respond to any of these and I don't even really know which one it wants anyway.

Help, is something likely to be wrong with its FDD or is there something else it wants?

You could sell that thing to a collector, i don't think recent windows, linux, or any OS made after 1992 will run on it. I wouldn't try to fix it for personal use....

I would try the win3.1 disks, it shouldn't need to install dos more than once, assuming it has already been installed. Mind you the win3.1 disk might be dammaged with age, check it on another computer to see if it is at least working. You could probably find a free download for win 3.1 on the net.
