hi

I heard that if you buy a mac pro you can replace or customize the hardware much like u would with a pc. of course this voids the warranty but the point is it can be done safely. so i'm wondering exactly which parts can be replaced and which can't. i've heard u can add ur own memory and replace the graphics card but what about cpus, powersupplies, motherboards, hard drives, and all the others.

thx

You can't replace the CPU, motherboard or ram.

You can select a CPU and RAM, as well as the video card and battery when you are purchasing your MacBook Pro.

To comfort you, the Pro generally comes with the top of the line hardware.

If your going to replace most of the vital components, like the CPU or motherboard just build your own PC and install OSX. Only reason why Mac is so uptight about their hardware is mainly because OSX has certain benchmarks to run at. Reason why you get no driver errors and shit.

Memory and hard drives are easily replaceable though.
As long as you have compatible RAM it should work. I just stuck in 2gb more in my Macbook Pro. Cost me less, and it was easily recognized.

Installing OSX on a PC is a bitch - iAtkos is the only way I know of and I haven't tested it.
