I have this issue. Maybe where I am coming from in my life can help you and your boyfriend with this situation. I have less than a year of my schooling left. I am about to be an adult. It's a weird fucking feeling. I have about a month of being a kid left. Part of being a kid is school events. School events that I will never have ever again, and will never get to do ever again. From my perspective, it is kind of selfish that one would expect me to give up one of about 8 track meets left in my life that I will never have again for something SHE is most interested in (a roller coaster event) that I will be doing for the rest of my life because I plan on being with her for that long.
Is your boyfriend a senior? Maybe he is feeling the same way. Just think about his wants too, I know that some times I feel walked on and made less important, maybe yours does too.
Message me if you want, and I can give you a bit more insight, etc.
P.S- Our varsity team is a commitment. If you are on the team, you devote a good portion of your time to doing things, as you are expected. I know I would get in trouble for skipping out, even though I really wouldn't want to.
