thats sort of the point of the polls though, to understand the percentages

Here is an example of what he means:

If you had 20 people voting on their favorite pizza, out of the options Cheese, Combo, and veggie.

if 5 people voted cheese, five people voted combo, and five people voted veggie, it SHOULD be a 33% 33% 33% split. However, if there is a "I don't eat pizza" option, then that will steal 25% of the vote, lowering the percentage of people who eat each type to 25%
