so this summer i'm getting an internship to work with a judge, and i was just wondering how much that would help my chances of getting into a really good school such as NYU or northwestern. i also go to one of the top schools in the US, im not trying to brag, just telling you so you have a better idea to help me, and i have an A/B average. so idk how do u think my chacnes are of getting into NYU or northwestern? they only accept 33% of applicants.

Trust me, tons of their applicants do some sort of summer program like that. It really doesn't give you much of an edge. You just have to cross your fingers. You forget to tell us one big, REALLY important piece of information: are you taking difficult classes? Lots of AP/IB? And how are your SAT/ACT scores and extracurriculars? You sound like a good enough candidate but you just have to cross your fingers, like the rest of us.

You're not giving us nearly enough information.

If you're hoping for NYU or Northwestern you better hope your grades are a hell of alot more A's than B's.

And hope your SAT's are killer.

Even so it's hard to get into those schools.

Well, if it's mainly A's, and the B's are mostly in AP classes, then he'd have a weighted 4.00+. It's also apparently a really tough high school; schools have different grading scales, and NYU/Northwestern will see a profile of his high school and judge accordingly.

Well yes, each college has its own weight system.

But believe me a vast majority of Northwestern's aceptees are getting A's in AP classes.

Very true. gay really needs to tell us more information about him as a student before we can say that he HAS to have killer SAT scores to get in, though. I wish he'd reply...
