my friends computer monitor is okay initially on start up, but after 5 minutes, the monitor starts to flash a pink colour, until it turns pink all the time and stays it.

does anyone have any idea what could be causing it?

Have you tried using a different monitor, see if the problem persists? Or equally using the same monitor with a different computer? All these can help locate where the problem is.

It'd seem like a cable problem causing colour change, however, due to it persisting after five minutes, I'd suggest a graphics card fault.

Its probably a graphics card problem. That kinda thing can happen as the computer gets old. Try a new one, and if the problem persists, you'll probably need a new monitor, or cables.
