My boyfriend seems to think that if he were to transfer from a private college into a public college, he wouldn't have to send his transcripts. Is that true? How would you get credit for the classes you've taken?

That's what I told him but he was positive that he wouldn't have to send them because he's at a private school.

I have yet to here of a single school that does not require a transcript from your present school. I suppose such a thing could exist, but would require that they have no admission standards, and award him no credit for coursework from his current school.

sometimes private schools don't transfer credit unless the schools is part of a group of schools that make deals to accept credit from them.

Yeah, I've heard of that but they're not supposed to do it. I didn't have any trouble going from a private school to a public school, all of my credits were accepted.

What he's thinking, though, is that he'll be able to opt out of sending his transcripts but I don't think he can. They'll want to know his GPA and sending his transcripts is the only way they'll get it. It's also the only way he'll get credit for the classes he's taken.
