they knew mine had to come out because one had already broke thru the gums. and plus they wer egoing to grow in wrong and i had just got my braces off. They hurt when they are coming in for a really long time before they actually break thru.
also, yeah it hurts when you get them out. i was on percaset (dont know how to spell it) right after and i had to stop taking it because i wasnt eating
so once i got off that it hurt the most because i didnt have the painkillers anymore.

If you do not have them removed they just stay there. The only reason you would need to get them removed is if they are causing problems.
