Right now in school we are picking out what we want our career path to be and what college we want to go to. Even though were only in middle school it is still important to do. But, anyways I was thinking about putting down Stanford School of Medicine for my college (I want to be a surgeon). So, anyone on here go to Stanford or have any experience with the campus and whatnot?

I have some friends there. Its a lot like my school. Its pretty, warm, and a good school. If I lived on the west coast thats where i'd go. Don't know much about their medicine program though.

I looked into Stanford, never bothered to tour it or anything.
I have heard from multiple people that it's actually quite a racist university. Not just many of the students are racist, but the institution itself. Obviously since it's an opinion it's biased, but I know of several people who have left the school because they felt completely unaccepted.

i have a couple of friends that go there.

it's a lot better than Harvard, so i've heard.

the campus is beautiful, and not only will you learn alot, but you're bound to have fun as well. the weather's really nice, so that ties in with having a wonderful time while attending this school.

you're making a really good decision in applying to Stanford. just make sure you keep your grades up.

good luck!

It's a gorgeous campus, best looking I've ever seen.
I don't go there, but definitely keep your grades up, and try to become involved in a lot of activities you like in leadership positions, and especially a varsity sport of some kind. It's ridiculously hard to get into.

It doesn't matter where you go to college.
It matters what you want to do.

Majority of the colleges are based on the name.

Harvard, Stanford, UC Berkeley, UCLA, UC Davis, CIT, UPenn, GIT, MIT etc.

it's all names =]

It's true.
Colleges don't guarantee a stable job in the future.
They don't guarantee you will survive in society.

MIT is popular for technicial, engineering..
Harvard is for law
John Hopkin Univ is for pre-med, biology etc.
UC Berkeley is for biology, computer science
UC Davis is chemistry, biology, food science, agriculture..

Even if it's better, it doesn't mean there is the guarantee for a job employment.

I disagree. Stanford is probably one of the more friendly campuses you'll find here in the US. It's definitely a lot less racist than most of the universities around the country such as Colorado U.

Stanford medical school is a very good one. Many of my friend's parents are doctors in Stanford Hospital and they are great people. Their medical program is definitely one of the top in the world.

Just a note about applying to Stanford, a 4.0 GPA and a perfect SAT/ACT score will not guarantee an admission; in fact, most of the people applying there have that. You need to win some awards or published some science papers (YES! people in HS can publish papers!) to move you up a notch.

Once you're in though, the classes are insanely easy. The cutoff point for an A is usually BELOW a Standard Deviation above average. So yeah, you get to enjoy a solid grade inflation.
