PEER SUPPORT LEADER
We want solid peer support leaders because they participate in helping our most fragile members.

PSL: I believe that I should have the privileges of becoming a Peer Support Leader because I want to genuinely help people going through mental distress or pretty much any other kind of problems they may have going on in their lives. I also believe that would make an excellent support leader because throughout my life I have been given both good and bad hands in the game of life. I've lived through divorce, military tours, disapproving fathers, issues with sexuality, academic hells, and more. I've lived through a lot, and I feel like I can relate to people in a lot of ways that I believe a support leader should.

TECH SUPPORT LEADER
Tech Support Leaders should display significant expertise in one or more areas relating to the Technical Forums.
Reasons:
I feel like I should be given the privileges of (tech) support leader because I feel that I can positively contribute to the well being of the site by having those privileges. I will do my best to answer the questions that arise from a technological standpoint. I also believe that I can represent Livewire in a positive way. Those reasons I feel qualify me to be a technical support leader.

I don't believe the replies are good enough to promote better applications.

Second Accepted PSL app:

PEER SUPPORT LEADER
We want solid peer support leaders because they participate in helping our most fragile members.

Reasons:
Being a support leader means being there for the people who need support the most. I feel that I have the qualities and experiences one needs to become a peer support leader. I have lived through a lot and been a lot of places in my life, I've dealt with people who just do not seem to care and those whom feel that they're hopeless. I believe that with the proper time and effort put into helping someone, your ceiling is no longer there. As a peer support leader, I feel that you need to feel that you can always believe something is possible. I also feel I inhibit all the skills that a peer support leader needs to be successful.

Well ill start off with the obvious. I like helping people.I have been greatly involved with community work since i was 16.I won award for my help to young people in my local community at youth clubs and youth reach. I think that a site like this will help me gresatly to start understanding peoples problems hand to hand rather then reading about it or listening at lectures. Im aware that i can help members without having a support leader status, the only reason i do want to get the privilage is to be able to help members who post in the serious forum aswell or emergency help. Ive been giving my advice, trying to help and understand at the same time for many topics that have been posted in diffrent area's of consern. I have had members thanking me for the help over private mail, and even seeking further advice or help on matters. I havent had anyone contradict my advice or help or knowledge so far and i hope it wont be in the future. Thats pretty much all i have to say, i was told this site is the best for its support and i want to be a part of that support as i have seen many young teens having major problems.

(i only realized now, how many spelling mistakes i made rofl)
I was 18 days active and the purple rank (i cant remember the name...my support leader laughed when i turned one.

PEER SUPPORT LEADER
We want solid peer support leaders because they participate in helping our most fragile members.

Reasons:
I've been a Support leader now two or three times. I close my account and I lose it. But I'll write the essay anyway.

I've always loved helping people. From posting a supportive reply on a website to comforting my friend for hours at a time, I've always been there for people in general. If somebody asks me for my help, I'll give it. I can't NOT give it. I feel awful, and know that I need to help.

In the past, I've posted supportive replies to eHelps, and every time I did, I'd take their feedback to heart, and the next reply try to do what they think I could have done better, or if they think it was a helpful reply, tried to do that again.

I'm willing to talk to people for ages after helping them, and I check on people to see how they're doing. I CARE about these people, and I think that's what would make me a good SL, the ability to understand what they are going through and help.

I know that in the past, I have not made the most responsible decisions about deleting replies, etc., however I feel that I can change that. By not hiding so many replies without being sure, I can observe what other SLs do and get a better understanding of overmoderation.

I think, for the past reasons, that I'd do a good job as a LiveWire support leader.

Hello.

Since I first joined LiveWire, I started to open up in the community and began to take part in giving back. With my past experiences and problems, I used them to turn my problems into ways to help others. I also noted that giving the obvious answer is not always the right one or the best one. Thinking outside the box and giving advice that is unique but still rational also works while providing open ended advice with multiple ways to help them.

There are a lot of complexities to the problems of fellow teens and I tend to notice them after reading the post more then once. I review each thread around twice to make sure I am seeing the right thing, seeing the issues so it helps me understand deeper, and a person level. One of the main things I also do on advice is talk to them on a personal level. I try to address them by their name like a friend would (If Possible). I see myself as a caring person and hope others do too, One that they can open up too and feel comfortable talking with.

Advice also doesn't't work if you just post advice and not add anything personal or something that really helps the Teen. When you can relate to the Teen or provide a personal insight into their problems, that's advice. have also written some handy guides and techniques (Not Solutions as not every works for them) to deal with problems that many Teen's face. These guides come from research, but also on a personal level, using methods I have tried with my problems. I realize not all of these techniques and methods work for everyone so I try to accommodate everyone by making the Guides open ended so anyone can add any piece of information or I add multiple methods and techniques for one problem so others may pick and choose and find out what one works for them.

I have been told I give good advice by many members of the Community and its staff, but they are simply compliments and through they might think it's good, I know there is always ways to improve the advice and more ways to help others.

I might not stun or dazzle the Community Support Leaders or the Community in my advice, but that's not my goal in life, I rather help someone through their problems and maybe at the end of the day, they would have a rainbow instead of something worst.

You only got one life to life, and why not make the best of it and give back to the community and its base of teens. They might be in America, China, Russia, UK, South America, but on Teen Hut and its Peer Support Sections, we are all one and one family.

I do not want Support Leader Status because I get a fancy title or more attention or even to stand out from the rest. I guess I fall into that selected few who love to lend their advice from personal experiences and provide words of wisdom. I have those experiences and I sure love helping people!

I realize that this application is longer then normal, but I feel I have risen to the occasion and finally understand what it means to truly become a Support Leader and to act on the forefront of problems as one who stands by you, even if the world crumbles around you.

Take care and I look forward to a reply.

My first application was rejected once. Then I realized that Livewire wanted more from their SLs so I stepped up the game.

TSL application:

Hi there,

I'd like to apply to be a Tech Support Leader. I've wanted to do this for a while but I finally have the free time to send in an app so I just thought I should do it before things get busier again.

When I was younger, I used to read tons of books so my dad bought me a PC and internet access to let me get a hold of material quicker. But I guess he didn't realize that I'd only use it to goof off and play emulated games. This was around the time when I started picking up a lot of tech related stuff. I was always sort of the trusted one when it came to installing new drivers, hardware, and software and I've dealt with a lot of computer related issues. This is why I'm applying for TSL, because it will offer higher credibility to the stuff I say on the Tech forums.

I've ran through a number of scenarios in my head and I've sort of decided that I'm not interested in being a teacher so I'm thinking of going into some kind of a tech related field. But since I would only have a degree in education 2 years from now, I'm interested in enrolling in a few courses at the local community college to learn more about the following fields: ERP tools, system administration, programming, MySQL/Perl and other web-based scripting. Right now I sort of suck at programming though so it's something I want to try and improve about myself. I'm getting a bit of help from a friend. Some of my specialized areas include video editing, sound mixing, web design, and internet security.

My hope is that through sticking around the tech forums more and enrolling into these courses, I can pick up some more skills in the process. If my tech sl app is accepted, I promise to keep the forums organized and answered while adding strength to the tech aspect of the site. Hopefully these replies qualify me to be TSL..

Sincerely,
~ Charolastra (Angel)

PSL application:

I've been a pretty supportive person for a while but I just sort of put off trying to apply for support leader because of real life stuff. But now it's summer vacation and I have a bit of free time. I thought I should just apply and see what else is out there on livewire.

I've reviewed a lot of the e-helps and the serious forum and it seems like more people talk about their concerns there in greater detail than they do in the forums. Having the opportunity to respond to e-helps, where I can know more about the situation would help a lot more in offering support.

Since I've been inactive, I went back and dug up some recent posts. When college starts back again, I may not be on Livewire too much but at present I want to do what I can to help people.

Some newer and better posts from different forums have been included as well this time. I just had to go back and weed out the bad stuff. I hope I'm accepted this time, thank you so much.

This has been long over due.  My first application for PSL was rejected in February of 2008. I reapplied in July and was accepted. I applied for TSL three times. I was rejected the first time. Accepted second time. Accepted third time (gave up title then decided to reapply).

I look at the word "Support Leader," and I think about it. "Support." What does it mean to be "supportive?" "Supportive" to me is not just sympathizing, but also empathizing. I think those that help others should have experience. Not necessarily experience just over the Internet but also at home. Friends you see every day. Friends that go through life with you. I believe I have this and more. I've been through a lot. I've experience death. Hardships. Depression. Weight problems. Hair loss. Loneliness. I've discovered one thing. Help is all you need. Someone to listen. Someone to hold your hand. Someone to wipe the tears. I do this, but not just simply doing this, I mean doing this with an empathetic hand. All different types of people come to LiveWire. They all have different problems. They all come to LiveWire for one thing and that is to get help.

I now think about "Leader." A "leader" is more than just a word to compliment "support." It's an action. It's saying, "I am a person of action. I am a follower of supportive intelligence and am committed to the better of an individual which leads to the better of the group." LiveWire can be considered a family. A family needs leaders. Not just people with words underneath their avatars, but people who put them into action. I can and will do just this.

I look at a topic in the fresh topics section and accidentally try to post a response because I didn't realize it was in the Serious Forum. I would really love to be given the opportunity. I am always on LiveWire and will not hesitate to help. I then look at the Serious Forum section and am just amazed at the lack of help. 0,1, and 2 replies are not what LiveWire is about. It's not why I came here.

I am a strong believer in the help potential of LiveWire. I came here for help and in return am offering my services to the greater good of LiveWire. I realize the topics I submitted are all in one night, but I did that on purpose. I wanted to show that I can be quick in responding to people. I also wanted to try because I have an extreme urge to want to help people. I want to start tonight. If I cannot truly answer a question to the best of my ability, I will leave it alone. I will then do some research. (I have done this in a few of my posts I submitted.) Lastly, I will respond. It's all about quality.

A quality "Support Leader" is what I am all about. Given the opportunity, I will do to the best of my ability of allowing people to feel better. It's my only purpose as of now on LW.

After being a Tech Support Leader for a while, I gave up the position. This was due to the fact that I just didn't feel right with the position. I doubted my ability to say the least. But I've realized I can be a good TSL. Around a week ago, I saw a topic in the cell phone forum and I felt the same feeling as before (previous to becoming a TSL the first time). I have the desire to help with technical issues. I won't let bitter feelings get in the way again. I want to become a Tech Support Leader again because I feel I have a great amount of knowledge on cell phones. I believe my posts in the cell phones forums highlight a portion of my knowledge on consumer electronics. I had a cell phone fairly young in life and have enjoyed them ever since. I've had countless media players that I've somehow destroyed over the years. Even with that, I still learned a great deal about them. I've learned a great deal about other products as well such as PDAs. While my strongest attribute is in that forum, I'm not limited there. I have a fair amount of knowledge about computers and automobiles. I remember working on cars and fixing them early in life. I don't run across too many "car troubles" topics in that forum but if one comes by, I could give it a good shot.

The next thing that comes to my mind is, "Why can't I post in the tech forums without the title?" The answer to that is I could. No doubt. I simply want the title to show other members that they can trust my advice and give it a chance. Also, if they see one of my posts in a topic and they know they're having a technical issue, they can know I have a fair chance at helping them with their issue and maybe message me.

I don't think you have to know everything. I don't think it's a requirement. What's more important is keeping the learning process going and striving to know more. The more I strive for knowledge, the more I receive. Sometimes it's not what you know but rather knowing how to find the answer. I went to a cadet 'boot camp' once and I was forbidden to say, "I don't know." My answer had to be, "I don't know, sir or mam, but I will find out." I still hold that with me because that will guide me to success.

Lastly, I don't think an answer in the tech forums necessarily has to be 50 lines. In some posts, I ask for clarification so I can help. That's a lot better than making up something, making it long, and hoping it works. Quality is much better than quantity. So I leave this application at this point and hope to be given another chance. I won't let myself down again and more importantly, I won't let the team down again. If you would like me to wait longer and answer more tech topics, I will accept. I have my mind set again and nothing will turn me back again.

Dear viewer of this application,

I'm stating the reasons Why I want to become a Support Leader.

I found this site when I needed support the most. It was like it was waiting for me. I posted my problem and I got all the support I needed. But as I decided to stay I realized that not everyone is that lucky to get the support they need. This is a support site. People come here for the need of it. Since I joined I've seen more insults and the most non supportive replies given to people who crave help. They complain that support isn't noticeable on this site and I agree with them. People with serious problem get answers like "GTFO,STFU,lol, lulz etc" for help. I've always tried to keep LiveWire's support name high. I can't do it alone. It would work better if people would recognize the serious people who try to help. I'm trying to make a difference.

Not everyone, especially the newly joined, are aware of the Serious Forum or what happens there. recently I've noticed that a lot of new members close their accounts after being here for a few days, sometimes even hours, because they don't notice the support that's supposed to be given. And I've seen too many of them. i don't know if it's allowed (that's why I'm not doing it) to post links to profiles of members who I used to talk to and tried to help too. They're all closed accounts. And the reasons speak for themselves. I'd show you, viewer, how many of them left and the reasons why. i used to talk to them, try to help them but still. They want to listen to more than one person. what good is it that one person tries and 20 others insult? For the last few weeks, every time I view my inbox and see a name in gray. And I don't even have to view their profile to know why and it saddens me.

When I joined,I had no intentions of becoming a Support Leader but now I feel that I have to. to prove that there are still people on this site who try to help. If I don't become a Support Leader...it will hurt since I tried hard but it won't break me down. I'll still be helping people not as a Support Leader but as a normal member...helping from the sidelines.
But I hope I'm qualified enough though.
