Ask the Jews about tattoos in Germany in the 1930's.

And playing around on the internet is something I do voluntarily. If you plant a chip in me, it's no longer my choice to be tracked.

Oh, and did you know that dependence on ALL of this technology means that society as we know it can be set aside by a strong EMP.......

We are not in 1930s Germany.
And as I've noted- you are already being tracked in more ways than you can imagine.
I know more than most because of my dad's work.
You better go fine that cave.

Yes, and did you know EMP hardening is built into all government contracted security equipment?

But how many banks, other financial institutions, hospitals, department stores, phone companies, phones, computers...... the list goes on and on.... have even a little protection? And tell me, how do they test these government contracted pieces of security equipment for being protected from an EMP that results from a theromonuclear detonation?

We HAVE a big brother society now.

That may be, but I see no reason to increase its power or scope. In fact we should be decreasing and dismantling big brother.

Everyone who functions in modern society is documented in numerous ways.

Whoa, there's a flaw in your argument here. A big brother society constantly watches its citizens for any crime. It maintains strong surveillance over all of our actions. Documentation is hardly the same. I may leave a financial transaction document of what I did but no one is going to look at it other then to bill me. A big brother society would catalog my behavior and make a profile of me and watch me accordingly. While companies may do this, they are merely trying to sell you something, not maintain a 24 hour vigil over everything I do. Documentation =/= Big Brother.

But if you are not do anything wrong so what. I think its good that there are ways to track down bad people and protect law abiding people like me.

You do realize police states are essentially a form of fascism yes?

True, there are much better ways now than tattoos.

And as I've noted- you are already being tracked in more ways than you can imagine.

This is very presumptive of you, lol.

I know more than most because of my dad's work.

Your dad isn't the only person in the field of Information Technology.

You better go fine that cave.

I don't need a cave, just less intrusion from the government in my personal life.

This is such paranoid nonsense.  The government does NOT constantly watch citizens cataloging their behavior.  The only time RFID data is searched is after a crime has been committed.  Then the pertinent data is examined for whatever help it can be to solve that crime.

In many cases it could allow unjustly accused people to prove their innocence.  Say for example, you are accused of robbing a bank but you tell your lawyer you were at a restaurant on the other side of town when the robbery occurred.  Fine, says your lawyer, we subpoena the restaurant ping log and prove you were there so you couldn't possibly have been the robber.  Case dismissed.

That is what a Big Brother society does. Or are you ignorant of what the terms mean?

So you'd have no problem with cameras everywhere, chips in people tracking everything they do and having Gov't in control of everything?

So you are in favor of a police state.

You're officially admitted into Fascism Fan Club.

Freak.

I haven't called you any names nor have I attempted to insult you. But I have offered rebuttal to your arguments.

Well I think we have all presented our views and have now reached the point where we simply don't agree.  You think I favor a fascist government while I think I favor new technology that will make life easier, safer and more convenient for all of us.

I can point out many things- passports, driver's licenses, Social Security, credit cards, etc which were met with feared and rejection when introduced which we take for granted today.

They say it takes about a generation to make a major change in society- just as we young people accept Blackberries and Ipods and computers while old folks still write letters and listen to the radio.

RFID will be like that to. It is already a proven technology in use in many applications and it's use will continue to spread despite the unfounded fears and ignorance I see expressed here.

Someday our children will look at coins and keys and little cards we carry around today and think how silly that was.

If the government still allows them to think for themselves, maybe.

do you have a cellphone? Do you know it tracks where ever you go? And information on every call you make, every credit purchase you make, every check you write, every toll pass, just about everything you do these days is documented somewhere.

I have a mobile phone but here's the important part: no government or any other oganisation or person forced me to buy and use it.

Privacy is only part of the issue. I'd rather have people occasionally kidnapped and murdered than have everyone chipped and tracked.

You are advocating a police state. Police states are a form of Fascism. Therefore as you are a fan of police states, you are therefore a fan of Fascism.

That's ridiculous. A in a "Police state" the government controls your actions.  RFID doesn't do that at all.
