Can anybody recommend an eyeliner that's very easy to apply, but stays on without too much smudging?

The problem is, I've tried to apply the pencil type (like the kind you sharpen) and I've tried that kind that you twist to make it pop up, but it's too hard! It hurts to put on, and most of the time I can't even get it on. I try marking on my hand to find a pressure and to make sure it wasn't the pencil, and it works, but then trying to put it on is a whole other story! I've watched people apply it so quickly and it looks like they barely press on it, and I've tried just kind of lightly brushing it on, but nothing works! Trying to press it onto my eyelid just makes me blink, which makes it even harder.

I've heard of wetting a small brush and using eyeshadow, but that doesn't seem like it'd come on very dark. Does it actually work? I've also heard of "gel" eyeliners, what are those, exactly? Liquid eyeliners seem very dark and obvious, is there a brand that doesn't look like I took a sharpie to my eye? Sorry if this is long, but I'd really like to find something that'd work for me. Thanks in advance!

Never have had to use foundation/concealer/powder, that ad I haven't the patience for it.  What I do use is Milani retractable eyeliner in the blackest black they have.  And on occasion, I'll use Clinique black masacra, Urban Decay eyeshadows (all colors), and sometimes inexpensive lip gloss.  And that's when I want to be fancy.

Tip:

Wet n' Wild liquid eyeliner kicks as for me when I do patterns in my eyeshadow (leopard print, zebra stripes, flowers, polka dots, pinstripe, skull and crossbones...)

Note: Anyone using expensive (MAC etc) clear nail laquer should try Sally Hansen Hard-As-Nails, which you can get anywhere. I handle a lot of dryness at work, and a lot of repairing parts with my hands (stupid minilab) and it really helps to stop my nails from breaking.

So, did ya like it?  Did ya?  Did ya?

Ok, it got here today.

I am very impressed! Apparently me shade is Sunkissed Fair (which I think means "Get a tan!"), and after applying it I realized that I have pretty nice eyes, and that somehow it really brought them out. I probably looked better today then I have in years.

I gave the blush that comes in the trial thing to my mum, and she likes it but doesn't plan on wearing it because she's crazy. (I didn't want it because, well, concealer and foundation are one thing for me, blush is another).

So +1 for everyday minerals, I've told my friends!

How often do all of you replace makeup? I remember reading a while back you should do it every something or other months. Any ideas? Or do you just buy more make up when it's finished?
