Ok, lets see what I have;
Concealer: Essence.
Foundation: Rimmel.
Eye-liner: Rimmel.
Eye shadow: Rimmel.
Mascara: Rimmel.
Lip gloss: Any type, doesn't matter. A lot of the time, I don't even bother  with lip gloss unless I'm going to a party or to a bar or something.

As you can see, I use Rimmel mostly. In fact, I usually have Rimmel concealer but when I ran out last time, hadn't a lot of money so have to buy something more cheaper. The confessions of a jobless teen.

My sis has used MAC since she knew what makeup was. She's 26 now and she's fine. It's probably just the way YOUR skin reacted to it.

I'm really not into makeup but I realized that I have to start using them (being a teacher). I don't know anything about color combinations and what colors suit me. So, can anybody please help?

What colors would probably look good on me? I know that it should depend on my skin tone. My skin is brown (like baked bread), and I have black eyes and hair. I want to look a little mature (I'm always mistaken for a teenager, which is not good for my job.) but NOT old.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

I would go for brown mascara to match your skin tone and hair. You could curl your eyelashes to open your eyes up if you want.
What I do is line my eyes with brown eyeliner, then add a line of a brighter colour at the bottom outer edge. A little green or purple I think would look nice with your brown eyes, but buy a few colours and experiment.

Your skin looks really nice and clear so I would just use a concealer if you get any spots and skip foundation. If you go to a department store someone at the make up counters will be able to help you get the right tone for your skin.

Your lips look quite naturally red (jealous! :P) so I would just use a clear gloss, or a slightly darker lipstick.

Just remember to 'big up' one feature: either your eyes or lips. So if you use a dark lipstick go with plain eyes, or have a bright eyeliner and nude lips.

Hope this helps! :)

I use loads of different types of makeup, when I'm broke I'll buy cheap stuff, and sometimes I'll indulge in a YSL or Benefit product.

Foundation: YSL perfect touch
Concealer: Benefit Lyin Eyes (I dont use it anywhere else apart to cover dark circles)
Powder: Maybelline of some sort
Blush: Benetint
Highlighter: Benefit 10
Mascara: Maybelline Great Lash
Eyeliner: GOSH velvet touch
Eyeshadow: Anything really, usually Borjois or Boot's natural collection/17
Lip Gloss: Lancome Juicy Tubes <3
Lip Balm: Vaselline

I have a new love.

Makeup Forever HD Foundation.

This is the absolute best foundation I have ever used.  It's a little pricey at $40 USD, but it is so worth every penny.
