Okay so I currently go to SJSU and am a member of a Fraternity and love it! However im transfering to ASU in the fall and I had some ethical questions.

1. Do fraternities allow someone who has been involved in a different fraternity join theirs?
2. Would it be better to pretend I was never involved?

My Fraternity has a chapter at ASU but ive heard its not a very good chapter. What would you do?

I wouldn't lie about being involved, but I wouldn't bring it up.

Some fraternities have rules and care, and some don't. For example I know that if you've been in any of the big fraternities like SigEp or PIKE, they require that you wait at least a year after leaving them until you can join a different one. If the fraternity you want to join doesn't allow you to become a member because of previous involvement, I wouldn't lie and join.  Otherwise, if you do find a frat that you can join, I wouldn't bring up the fact that you've had previous involvement.

you can't belong to two frats. you either join the one in your new school or don't join at all. at least that's the way with sororities

You can't belong to two fraternities, at least in my experience.  Sometimes houses vary greatly, despite being the same fraternity.  Seriously, if you are transfering, why did you get involved with a house?  You should stay or if you transfer, don't go greek.

First and foremost, you'd have to withdraw completely from the national and local instances of your present fraternity. After that, most other places will let you join as a brother, at least in theory. But, because abandoning one set of brothers for another may send up a red flag, they'll probably blackball you over questions of loyalty.
