I'm looking for a decent student savings account.
One where I can get my money out any time I want via cash machine and where I can get the highest interest rate possible.

I don't care about overdrafts/credit or such, I'm not planning to withdraw more than I will receive in student loans, grants, etc.

Ideas?! any tips you can offer me?
Thanks

I'm with Bradford and Bingley's. Not sure what the rate is but it's pretty awesome.

HSBC had a pretty good interest rate going whenever I was opening up an account last year, but in retrospect I would probably go with someone else.

The thing is, if you want a really good interest rate then you are best to go for a Cash ISA, but the ISA's do not allow quick withdrawal of money so they're probably inappropriate for you. Most of the time you have to compromise a high interest rate in return for accessibility, and accessibility is a lot more important when you're a student.

Go onto the bank websites and ask for information to be posted out to you. I would very strongly advise that you go for a bank that has an office near where you will be living while at university, because otherwise things can be very inconvenient.

I have an EasySaver account with Alliance & Leicester. Below £2000 it's 3.11% and above (up to £10,000) it's 3.21%. I have no idea abotu other savings accounts, but at least use this to compare.
