I'd much rather see the use of solar power being the dominant energy source by 2050.

Yeah, there are poisonous substances in the materials that are used, but there will be a way around that.  There always is.

I don't much like the idea of having a reactor core with 9999999999 million degrees celcius near my home.

Depends on how much research goes into it.

The way it operates makes it far less dangerous than a nuclear fission reactor, too many people buy the whole spiderman bullshit.

At our current rate, we'll be lucky. If it was taken seriously, we could have the technology ready today, and if we take it seriously now, it could be ready well before 2030.
