I honestly would be split between options two and three. I do not doubt that commanders will most likely be humans, but I strongly doubt that regular foot troops in advanced nations will still be human. I guess that it could be possible for special forces to not be robotic (but cybernetically enhanced), but I am not quite sure about even that.

Your thoughts?

I think we might have some, i mean its still a job and some people enjoy it loads so i don't see why it should change for technology.

Not currently. They could be able to do the job much better provided that technology advances enough, which is likely.

Yes, we will still have human soldiers.

I think that, although we will have sufficiently advanced weaponry to not need human soldiers, we will still use them over the weaponry. Because if we start using, biological warfare for example... other countries might follow suit... and no-one wants that.

When you think about it, finding an enemy is a very technical job.  Use your sensors (eyes in the human case) to locate said enemy then aim to fire.  With scanners and robotic precision, finding and firing would be much more efficient.  Though, tactical movements would be more difficult to manage, but that's what your human squads and commanders are for.

but seriously, there's a number of technological hurdles to cross, followed by social and political ones arising from creating a whole new arms race.

This is kind of like the 'we have had projectile weapons since the beginning of time, so we will always have them' idea.
