keep it running if it has active protection, or "Real-time" scanning. Which scans files being used on the computer, (which is way safer then just a scanner). I recomend using aVast Anti-virus.

Oh, u have aVast or a real-time scanner?. If u have aVast, it will start when ur computer does. If u have a real-time AV, it should do the same (start when ur computer does).
Avast DID start until i disabled it. Does it have real time?(Edited by xBanditx at 5:07 pm on May 27, 2006)

No, I don't think it slow downs your PC.maybe do coz it automatically scans and Updates.I dont think itslow down your PC. As Bighead said . Just keep your Anti-Virus! on at all times, Let Avast start up when your computer logs on. (Edited by Napster the Hacker at 3:14 pm on May 28, 2006)
It does slow your computer down. nothing comes for free, it has to do some work, hence that takes time and processing cycles.
------- Anyone who isn't confused really doesn't understand the situation http://craigk.org/pictures/ Can you work out the code?
