Fortunately, I was 25 and poor when I started college so I got lots of federal aid.  Made it much easier.  Plus Colleges here are cheaper than in alot of other states.

Whatever my financial aid package doesn't take care of, a loan does.

Right now I'm still at community college which, thankfully, is free for me since I graduated high school with at least a 3.0 and got at least a 970 on my SAT or a 20 on my ACT.  When I transfer to a university, though, my scholarship reduces to seventy-five percent rather than the full one hundred - AND it's only for tuition.  No books, no housing.  I plan on getting loans.. I definitely think they're worth it.  I don't want to have to work my ass off during college at some shitty job I hate and risk screwing up in school when I can just get a loan with (hopefully?) a small-ish interest rate and start paying it backs once I'm really making money.

i goto uw-madison...and it's about $17k for tuition plus room & board, but I have a $11k scholarship from my mother's work place as long as i keep a 3.4 gpa or higher (i'm at 3.5) and I also get financial aid too.  good thing my scholarship will allow me to pay for rent! :D  as long as the loan is a subsidized loan, you'll be ok.  don't get unsubsidized loans because those will really make college life a little difficult since you have to pay interest on 'em.

My financial aid is shit.

My parents make enough money for the government to say I don't need much help at all, but they (parents) won't help me pay for school.

I have no credit.

I had a 3.6 high school GPA, 1300 SAT, and 31 ACT, but because of the fucking FAFSA I can't get a damn thing. My family just isn't poor enough.

I'm American Indian (1/2), but can't prove it because we don't have the full name of the one great-grandma who was living on a reservation during the time that censuses were being done.

I missed getting a National Merit Scholarship by 1 point on the PSAT. That's right, ONE FUCKING POINT. Cutoff was 314, and I got 313.

I don't do sports, so no chance for a sports scholarship.

So I am now 19 years old and already over $15,000 in debt. Lovely, eh?

I got a handful of scholarships, grants, and financial assistance, but considering I go to an out of state school, that only pays for about half of my tuition.  My family has helped out a bit, but loans have been the bulk of my assistance beyond that.  They're worth it, but you've gotta be careful which ones you accept and prepare for paying for them later.

I don't have to pay for any fees until I start earning 15,000 quid upwards after University. Because of my parents financial state I also get a grant of about 3,500 a year whihc does not have to be paid back. I also get a loan of 3,000quid a year which has to be paid back again when earning over 15,000 a year.

I am not getting much, if anything from my parents. My dad is a state employee, so I do get half off tuition. I am working and probably will have to take out loans.

Scholarships and summer work is enough for me to pay off my tuition, books and supplies, and transportation costs.  I'm blessed that I don't have to work during the school year.

My parents set aside a huge chunk of money for me. They are paying for it in it's entirety.

Awesome.  I hope to study at McMaster for the next two years, and that will pretty much triple my current tuition (with the living expenses and all).  Boo.
