Everyone has a self ideal. What they would be if they had unlimited resources, the right attitude and the know how. I believe that it's important that we all realize our self ideals. Only when we're working towards our self ideals and true goals are we really happy. What your true goals are might be a later topic, but it's always best to get your momentum started with a bit of selfishness.
It is never wrong to do things to better ones self. It is considered wrong to become so in love with yourself that you forsake everyone around you.

When you realize your self ideals in entirety, you will unleash a energy that will have you subconsciously seeking them which can only be a good thing.

To realize your self ideal (write it down, my example below), you have to imagine a world where:

- You have anything you might ever need at hand to develop how you want.
- You have all the time you need to acomplish what you want.
- You are free from all current relationships and commitments. (job included)
-You are free from all your past actions and their repercussions.
- You have to let go of all your self limiting beliefs. (I'm too short to do it, I'm too ugly, I'm not smart enough, I've been born into a hole, ect.)
- You are motivated to bring about change.

Don't worry yourself with thoughts of how your self ideal is just generated from the doctrination of western society. It doesn't matter. When you start living it, you will become a happier person and motivated with life at which point your individuality can be most expressed.

You don't need to do this on livewire if you wish, but make a list of everything that is different about yourself from your self ideal.
Next make a list of what you CAN do to get yourself to your self ideal.
(There will always be things that can't change, say your height, but you can find ways to use them to your advantage. Many famous people use their obvious imperfections to make them quirky, full of character and individual compared to the rest of the Hollywood dolls.)

Now, the most important part. Just do it (cliche), make the changes, start exercising or whatever your self ideal might involve.
If you are anything like me, you'll find yourself more motivated with life and happier.

VERY IMPORTANT: Never let anyone ever discourage you from your goals in any way. You might turn a few heads if you go in all gusto with a change in living, don't let them distract you or sway you. They will eventually adapt to your new ways and as my parents were, somewhat proud a few years down the track.

A side note: Don't tell people your goals. That way if you don't succeed no one will be the wiser. They will only see you reap the benefits of life.

A good note: If you jump into it with a huge amount of gusto, then realize that many of the things you want to change about yourself will take years to do, you might very soon be discouraged. If anything, by doing this you're adopting a mentality that will get you places and make you happier. It's not a activity that will suddenly "fix" you, aside from the happy part.

Write down your self ideals here. You can build upon your own with other peoples ideas. It should be fun.

That's all.
(To all the high and mighty communist teenage hippies who believe that being self absorbed at all is evil, you can be self absorbed and still be a good thing for the world. Being self absorbed isn't what will create a perfect world, but we are not a perfect people and compromises need to be made. Compromises are not evil, they are made to make imperfect things work.)

Inspiration:
Tracy, B. "Goals! How to Get Everything You Want -- Faster Than You Ever Thought Possible".

-------------------------------

My self ideal:

-I want to have a nice body, fit as well. Being half asian my legs don't develop well, i want to make them grow.
(I now do about 80 pushups a day, running about twice a week and calf raises. My legs haven't grown much but I'm still working on it and determined.)
-I want to work on my motivation, doing things way before they are needed and being a busy bee.
(I'm working on dulling my mental inertia and just "doing" what i need to do. Probably the hardest thing i've ever done but it helps and i feel so happy after doing a lot of work)
-I want to work on my general learnedness.
(I've been working on learning were all the countries are and what their capitols are and languages. This is just a start. )
-I want to be less needy and more independent.
(I got a job and complain to certain people about how my life sucks, less :P )
-I want to develop a more sociable personality and be more fun to be with.
(I'm going out with people more often and making efforts to remember things to talk about and being nice.)
-I want a job that will help people, could be a job that makes a pile of money that i could use to help people, or becomeing a doctor and helping people in a more direct way. (I'm already at uni doing a course, which is a good start).

Write your self ideal up first, post it here maybe so people can build upon your ideas.
When i started planning how i was going to change, i started feeling great. Wait for that stage. You don't need to tackle everything at once, it might be an idea to start with the easiest thing to change about you to get a bit of momentum happening.

(One day, i took the list of everything i didn't like about myself into the shower. Tore it up and watched it turn to mush as it washed down the drain. Probably a stupid idea, could have blocked it, but it was so symbolic and lovely. :P)

I like the idea. I'm very proud of you for doing that and going through with it.

I guess I need some motivation. I have a few goals.

Never thought of that, working on being more "yourself". That would be something to aspire to.
The motivation thing is a tricky one. I know that if something makes me happy i'm easily motivated to do it. Work on the other hand, i have to sort of "numb" the inertia and become a machine, standing up, taking the first step and heading towards my bedroom. When i get started it's easier for me. Having kept it up for a while, starting work has become easier and easier. Mind you it's still the hardest thing for me to do but it's getting better.

ok so here is the real deal, I feel like ive been making too many uninteresting posts in this topic. my list:
- I wanna look and feel good, like that day out, just after I got my new haircut
- I wanna be less fake, more myself and stop caring about what people think of me.
- Spend less useless time on the computer.
- Finish the clothes Im making instead of starting new projects all the time. That goes for everything else too.
- Be more interesting.

Hehehehehehe, spending useless time on the computer....   I know the feeling. I haven't actually thought of working on that before. I guess the thing to do might be finding other ways to waste time that you would consider more productive? Reading books, joining groups like amnesty international or finding a hobby?

I have a thing for not finishing personal projects too. I get started and if things aren't going perfectly or i get bored of it, i'll leave my half creation in the corner of my room. It might help to just make it a force of habit to finish whatever you start, developing said habit will take some time and effort.

I like house cleaning too! Bedroom cleaning moreso. :P It's like my private area and when it's clean and organised in a new way, i feel happier. Drawing is great. If i was going to chose something to do in my spare time aside from Internet time wastage, it'd probably be art.

I want to be more in control of the friendships I have.

I want to atone for things that I have said or done in the heat of the moment.

I want to look good at all times. I know that sounds superficial, but if it's something I'm good at then I'll stick with it!

I want to leave one of my jobs in order to have more time to spend with the friends who are actually my friends.

That right?
