If you are a freshman than you are probably in a dorm. In my experience getting a light is definitely neccessary because dorm room lighting sucks for doin homework it is normally awful lighting. Also, a battery charger for your computer is ABSOLUTELY neccessary, you end up taking your computer with you everywhere and you are going to need to keep it charged. Outlets are found everywhere. Fridges and stuff are nice especially if you want to just have cereal in the morning and get on with the day. I never had enough hangers, so bring more than you think you need. and bring a lock!! if you go to the gym a lot or a few times a day, it is really nice to lock your stuff up there and just bring a backpack with you to campus. my advice, stay on campus once you arrive in the morning, do work between classes in the library and go to the gym, get a routine and follow it for the first couple of weeks, it will make you feel a lot less stressed and much healthier! plus, most dining hall food sucks so this way you are combatting the freshman 15.
