eHelps should only be deleted if they are obviously attention-whorish, have been posted before, or are not serious but have been posted by someone who has not chosen to remain anonymous. It doesn't matter if they don't seem like a great big emergency if the member is anonymous, because it's obviously something that they're embarrassed about and don't want to ask about on the forums. Only delete eHelps if they fall into one of the above categories. I think that some people are going to get all delete-happy now that they can do so, and I don't think it's even necessary for SLs to have to delete. Mods are SLs too, we get the flashing eHelp icon, we go in and check the requests just as often as most SLs do (if not more). I've deleted countless eHelps in my time, I don't see the huge need for SLs to be doing it.

And, for the record, in my opinion that eHelp on the rape shouldn't have been deleted.

That's exactly what I think as well, she just worded it better.

Katy's covered it pretty well to be honest; unless something is attention whorish, repeated, or not pertaining to the kind of support we are trying to giving (e.g. asking about train times...), it stays.

If something is borderline, then leave it.

Similarly, the idea of 'e'mergency is utter, utter, utter, utter, utter, utter bollocks. I can't emphasise the ridiculousness of the comment Roy made earlier about 'e' enough. There are several distinguishing things about eHelp and fast response is not really one of them; you get better replies and anonomity. Those are the main two attractions.

To be honest, I get the distinct feeling that some people are deleting eHelps because the can. And that's really not good.

Another Example

From: Guest
Subject: Can't make a female orgasm.
Ehelp Content: :"Well no matter what I do even if the girl says do this and I will orgasm she still doesn't. Even if I give her oral sex. I have an 8" Penis and it still doesn't do anything. I don't know if that matters, but I have heard it does.
How do I make a girl have an orgasm during sex/oral? "

When I just hit reply, I saw that there were already three votes to delete that ehelp. Clearly there is absolutely no need to remove that ehelp.

He submitted another saying I can't make a girl orgasm. I deleted that one because another one was not necessary. The first one should not have been deleted.

If David wants to let Support Leaders keep voting to delete, I think it should say who is voting, so we can let them know that that sort of eHelp is okay and not to delete it. This might already be the case, but like I said, I have no idea what the deletion process for SL's is.

I agree it should say who is voting to delete these. Becuase that topic that was deleted about the orgasm i wrote a big long comment to that and it just really pisses me off that  it was deleted, there was no need for it to be deleted. Ug, something needs to change.

And this might sound stupid maybe its just me, but it seems like lately there have been a lot of new support leaders (ones i haven't seen before but that also might be because lol i am only 11 days old), anyhow i was thinking maybe thats the issue they are new SL's and don't really understand the Ehelp thingy:S.

I'd like to mention that when an eHelp is deleted the member does receive their full message back so that they can easily post it in the forums.

But the ones who want to be anonymous won't do that, which means they won't get their help.

Actually, I feel like I have seen a TON more people replying to eHelps, so it's not just you, haha. It's not rare anymore for me to come on, see no new eHelps, but click on the eHelp menu and see like 5 that already have 4+ replies. Wowser. It used to be that I'd sign on at at least see two new eHelps, sometimes more, and they rarely had more than three replies.

Whatever happened, it's working.

Yup, once again, I'm basically agreeing with everything Anthony's said, and Jon, Katy, and Emily.

Honestly, until we get this worked out, with deleting eHelps, ask yourself these questions, and if the answer is yes to one or more, I would not delete it:

-does the user wish to remain anonymous?
-is the question valid, and has the intent for actual knowledge (as opposed to spam/ "how do I become a SL?"-types)
-is the question of a serious nature? (this INCLUDES stuff about rape, periods, sex, relationships, any sort of that thing)

Don't delete just because you can. Honestly think about what you're doing before you vote to delete an eHelp. Remember, what seems silly to you might mean the world to the person who posted it. Really think about whether the question has a productive nature before you click the vote to delete button (or whatever it is, I have no idea).

Please give the EHelps more thought when voting, I did run into some legit ones that were voted off. Do not vote them off because you don't want to answer them (which I am sure a lot of people do.) Especially the guest, the feature is open to be anonymous to guest and members.
