Does anyone know where I can an Operating System which is entirely on Floppy?

I've been given a laptop to repair, but the CD is bust so Windows disks are no good. Any ideas?

Can you access another computer to transfer the information onto a floppy?

Try something like Tomsrtbt (Tom's Root Boot). There are heaps of Linux floppies that you could use to repair, just have a look at somewhere like http://www.distrowatch.com. It depends on what you need to repair, really.

I just need to get it working - doesn't matter what O/S...I can take it from there.

I just need an Operating system that fits on a floppy.

Don't worry about the repairing, which O/S?

It sounds like you want more of a LiveCD to recover your data? I know you can install several linux distros from floppies (grant it, it's about 14 of them) but running from just one is probably not going to happen. You can install something like damn small linux to a flash drive and use a floppy to boot from it, or just use a liveCD.

You're best bet is to probably use an external CD drive, since you said the CD drive is broken. I'm pretty sure most BIOS can support booting from an external drive.

I doubt you can get an OS powerful enough to "fix" the notebook available on a floppy, sorry.

You can probably find some extremely minimal linux disks though, such as Tomsrtbt, I just don't think that's enough.
