Okay, so accutane is the name for a drug called isotretinoin.  I'm on it, and wanted to drink tonight.  I've heard that both accutane and alcohol will increase the level of trigylcerides in your blood, which could lead to problems

Can anyone who has taken accutane, and only people who have taken it, tell me if they ever drank when they were on it, and if you had any problems.

I rarely drink (maybe once per month), but I want to know if it will have any major effects if I do.

Accutane already does a toll on your liver,I'm pretty sure you wouldn't to throw alcohol into the mix.

Alright, after a bit of research, you CAN have 2 or 3 drinks once a week on Accutane safely, but like you said your triglyceride levels may be affected. Usually bloodwork is done during the course of Accutane,so be sure you don't have any upcoming bloodwork soon so that your doctor doesn't take you off the treatment.

Sorry to hear that you're on that stuff, I was on it a while back and it was a pain, but it paid off.  Anyway, I did drink while taking it.
I also had this question and I read all the side effects/booklet thing through and though and nowhere did it say you cannot take it will alcohol. So I gave it a shot and turned out OK, aside from the times when my heart stops beating but I'm pretty sure that happend before.
And, blood tests were all fine.
This was just my experiance, but you should really ask your docter first.

ive been on accutane for the past 3 months, i have just finished my 3 month dose about a week ago, and i am happy to say i am no longer taking the pills anymore!i must admit, i used to be a big drinker, i was big on partying. <br> but becuz i took accutane, i decide to take the safe route, and have not drank since!sure i had a beer here, a beer there, but that is about it!since new yrs is coming up thou and i am no longer taking the pills, i am going to go on my first binge, but i would not reccommend to drink while you are still taking the pills. After reading peoples expierencing on accutane,, saying theyve had probelms, etc. the best thing to do is not drink, becuz obv if you do then its gun to make a higher risk of all the side effects listed, more porbable to happen. SO it is better not to drink, just suck it up and dont drink! i did it, smoke weed instead, plus it be good to give your body a nice break from alchohal while ur on the medication. Give your body a cleanse, from alchohal, let the accutane pass, get clear skin, look better, gain ur conifdence back, and then start drinking. i learned its always better to take short term precautions that are going to help you in the long run. sao what i dint drink at parties, theyve passed, and now that they have, i dunt even look back with regret, i look forward with excitement
