I wouldn't say more stupid, perhaps more ignorant and naive. Which in my opinion often makes a happy person.

By saying that faith implies a low intelligence, you merely prove your own lack of intelligence by showing your misunderstanding of the concept of faith.

In general, I agree with both statements.

I know many, many more intelligent people with alternative religious views (such as agnosticism or atheism).

And, at least as far as high school goes, the less intelligent people seem to be more happy, but I wouldn't agree with this one as much as the other.

As intelligence increases, happiness decreases. We become aware of the problems in the world and diseases and problems that can be harmful to us. Of course we don't stay as happy as we were.

I disagree with both statements. It is possible to be intellegent, religious and happy. I know of a lot of people who are all three of these. I wouldn't think of myself as overly intellegent, but I can say I'm happy and religious. So it depends on the person more than anything else.

Statement B is not technically true, for there are pastors and priests that have thier PhD in Religion, or other things which makes them "top of line".  However, Statement A I can surely see as true.  When intelligence increases, usually wealth does as well, and material possessions can only make one happy in one way.  Slowly but surely one will become bored and the happiness will decrease.

Also, isn't there that phrase "ignorance is bliss"?

I agree generally to both statements, however, not as a set rule.  As many others have set there are many exceptions.

I think both statements are values that society puts on them.  Sure all of us can think of many exceptions but both these views for A and B, but we like to assume that these are true.

As many people have said before, both statements are true generally speaking.

I happen to agree because both statements apply to me.

I definitely agree with statement A...thinking about things always, invariably, in fact, makes me depressed. A lot of my friends comment on how I'm so morbid all the time. You wouldn't know it because I B.S. it right along with them..but it's still there.

Note: I'm not in danger of offing myself.

Your poll speaks only of the percentage of people here in livewire with certain beliefs who have opted to take your poll. This site is hardly an equal pool of all belief systems, and with 33% of the world, Christianity is still the worlds largest religion.

Yeah, but that's besides the point. It wasn't supposed to prove that my results applied globally. Obviously, it only applies to the subject pool. However, the subject pool is also the only people who are reading this, therefore it balances out.

Be that as it may you're not taking into account that Catholicism is considered different than protestant and protestant differs from evangelical and then you have mormons and jehovas witnesses which believe something totally different than anyone else. All of these denominations would feel different from each other when voting therefore the "Christian" response would be just as diverse as the atheist response.
