Normally I agree with most of your changes, but this one, even I don't agree on.

I have over 9 friends on GoLiveWire, and they've checked the site out before signing up. So I didn't get any credit for it, because they didn't sign up through the special "referral page" and I'm stuck with "Dairy Product Addict."

Please, please change it back

I may not agree with what you say,
but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

teenages want to go somewere in which they don't feel that somone is going to judge them because it is their friend ... but i like the idea that someone is going to be able to find out about this site as a friend will be able to intorduce them ... i like the topic on the 1st page about the incentives please allow people to make some choses of there own

and thank you for lowering the needed referals to get the blue bar ... i hope all 4 of my people i refered veifie their e-mails soon though.

Alright, man, no offense, but people with real lives are not going to get online at three in the morning just to get on this site.  We are busy.  We have other things to do during the month of November, like writing 50,000 words for instance, and not every single person on here works for some big website and loves their job, ok?

And then, on a more personal level, I like the atmosphere as it is now.  I like to know that this group is big enough that I feel like I can get lost in a crowd, but small enough that we still know each other when we see their post, or a message we get from a certain person.

I'm sorry if I'm a little opinionated, but this is how I feel.

I appreciate you're reading this.

Sometimes the most practical ways of achieving your objectives aren't necessarily going to be the most popular ones. David, i don't like this at all, but as a member who values livewire very much and would hate to see it die, i understand your position.

By teens, for ...mister big advertising guy?

Nah, it's not too bad I suppose.

Edit: oh damn! I didn't know everyone was a dairy product addict that didn't complete the checklist. That's kinda horrible.

Why I deemed it absolutely vital to ask everyone to refer friends
Because you guys don't do it without encouragement. The advertising manager knows, he's seen the numbers, new membership has been declining since February. We have a wonderful thing going here, but you can't place the entire burden of finding new members on me all the time. We must continue to replace members who leave or become inactive to maintain the current level of activity that you are accustomed to on LiveWire. Furthermore, I feel that having more members online at a time creates a better atmosphere.

I am inspired when I sign in and see many new topics appearing in Fresh Topics, when I see forums bustling with activity, and the active members list above 200!

However, when I sign-in during low-key hours around 3am and see 47 members online my topics don't get replies and I feel a lack of energy on the site that makes me want to sign-out.

If those are selfish reasons for trying to get you guys pumped about referring LiveWire to friends then continue sending me your hate mail.

The Numbers
New Members in February: 616
New Members Last Month: 310

(Many more members signed up, but those are how many we retained and who have become regular posters.)

Why do we need more members?  We have at this moment 835 users online as I am writing this. We have over 85,000 accounts made.  Is that not enough?  I don't think that the activity here is declining.  The only reason that there's only 47 users active during the low-key hours is because it's 3 in the morning!  Come on!  There's going to be low-key times, there's going to be times when LW is really busy.  That's going to happen, no matter how many people have made accounts on this site.

I have also noticed that while many new accounts have been made this week because of this checklist thing, only a few have been retained.  I have currently 35 novices this week, and guess what my retention for them are?  A whopping ZERO percent!!!!  That's the statistic for most of the support leaders the past few days.  So yeah, your plan is really working, David.

That's a re-wording of what you've already said. You still haven't addressed the fact that many of us do not have anyone to refer because we want to remain anonymous, especially the older members who have already referred those close to them. The anonymous feature isn't enough to cover all the past posts, or to prevent friends from recognising the situations that we describe.

I agree, I don't have any problems with these changes, nor with the checklist, but I have no one left to refer. I have referred one friend, but it says that he never validated his email, which he did. I can't get my points back.

It's true that I take ownership of LiveWire through all the work I do, but I do not even own LiveWire.

who does then?
