Why is "support" even still in the motto? How is adding a word to the dictionary helpful?
Oh come on. I added "babymama" to the dictionary! Everyone needs to know what that word means.
This is true. Surprisingly false advertisement wasn't in there. It is now.
If you want more people here, try adding something worth being here for. How about support forums for those with issues you don't give a shit about? In my opinon, teen parenting deserves a forum. I'm sure teen parents need a good bit more support on that subject than they do for glamour & fashion, sports, or tv. What about those with debilitating conditions (e.g. paralysis, downs syndrome, deaf, juvenile diabetes, etc)?
I have pitched the idea of a forum for teen parents to mods and David before and basically been told we're not worth it. There are "other sites" for us and our issues are small enough to crammed in with hygiene and sexuality forums.
I've suggested that forum countless times myself. It's nice to know that what jeans are "in" this season is more important than legitimate issues. And it kind of pisses me off that teen pregnancy & parenting topics end up in the sexuality forum. After the act leading to conception, it is no longer a matter of sexuality, unless we're talking pregnancy fetishes, or pedofilia.
I second your idea though. There's so many more positive ways to encourage people to come. He could give bigger avatars or some sort of more flashy graphic to people who donate or refer. He could give more siggy room to such people. Or more profile room. Or better profiles. Or more customization options. Make certain smilies only available to people who complete certain options (like the now mandatory checklist). It sounds lame but a lot more people would do it for those sorts of rewards than having their cookies taken away and dangled above their heads.
That would be too much trouble. A checklist (that doesn't even work correctly by the way: I've voted in many polls, but that isn't checked off") is so much better.

Zing!

That's sort of the same reason it annoys me. Originally it was felt that there simply wasn't enough young parents to warrent our own forum, because at the time you me and maybe one other person were the only ones who had really come forward. But now the "Teen Parent" group here on LW has 70 members. I think that's certainly a decent enough amount for our own forum. I certainly don't consider advice on what my son eats or how to potty train him to be of a sexual nature. Sure I could put it in hygiene but it would be nice to have a forum of people who actually have some idea of what they're talking about (no offense to anyone). I want advice from other young parents. And I really hate the group layout. Iframes are really annoying and you can't really tell when someone posts new stuff unless you constantly check the group.
That would be too much trouble. A checklist (that doesn't even work correctly by the way: I've voted in many polls, but that isn't checked off") is so much better.
True nuff.

I can't believe you were turned down for a teen parents forum. That's infinitely more legitimate for a support site than Teen Glamour and Fashion (which isn't so much a "support" forum than it is a place to put down people for not being able to afford to pay for labels).

Oh we've been turned down many times. I actually started suggesting it long before Teen Glamour and Fashion came into existance. David's priorities sure are in order.

This thing really pisses me off. maybe i come here because i dont want my friends to know my problems, i value my anonnymity over the internet. I know this is wat everyone else is saying but im just helping to push the point, i think you should listen dave, and give people the option to refer or not.

No kidding. It even says in the forum's description "We've resisted making this for a long time." Of all the forums he's "resisted" he had to go and choose fashion. I'm not a teen mom, but I'm behind you all 100% on that one.
Yes, it's quite silly. I understand it back then. As I say, with only 3-5 young parents really making ourselves known on here, sure he's not going to give us our own forum. But with a decently active teen parent group of 70 now, maybe things might turn around. And people can say go elsewhere all they like but I certainly know of other sites for people to talk about fashion http://www.fashion.net/ http://www.flare.com/forum/fashion/ other sites for bands http://www.muchmusic.com/music/artists/extras.asp http://music.myspace.com/?MyToken other sites for emotional issues http://www.obad.ca/ http://www.mixednuts.net/ other sexuality forums http://www.sxetc.org/ http://www.scarleteen.com/index.html etcetc. There's other places we could all go.
