I made a sign for my new myspace thing...but to put text in it I had to use a word document (word perfect 12) I made the sign witch includes an awesome font and a background picture behund it...but now I need to upload it to myspace but in order to do that I need it to be a GIF image. But it is a DOC becuase I made it under a document. It wont let me copy the whole thing into paint and save it in GIF format, when I try it only copys the picture thats is behind the text. So what I need to do is fugure out how to put it in GIF format so I can upload it to myspace. All help is appreaciated.

You could add the text with Photoshop. Or get a file converter.

Why didn't you just put it in paint, then put the lettering on it?

Well, ya, because the text is part of a word document, not of the image. Hit "Print Screen" which is a key on your keyboard next to the Caps/Num/Scroll Lock lights. Then paste into Paint and crop. Have a field day. Wouldn't this have been better off over on the tech forums?

Do you have any graphics software at all?
To my knowledge you can't save graphics as a .gif in MS Word, or anything similar.

I suggest you download a free image program such as photoshop (can get a free trial), then make a screenshot of the image in your Word program, paste into photoshop, crop and save.

Or simply download the free program and do the graphic in there. With photoshop you can also have better affects! =)

How would I crop it...

Use the little dotted line box tool to select the image you want to crop. Move it up to the top left hand corner. Now click on any space other than the image you moved so its no longer highlighted. Around the edges (where the image you pasted in turns to grey) there are little black dots. Drag the dots up so the grey goes around the edges of image that you moved into the top left hand corner. Save. Enjoy.

But I do suggest you download the free trial of photoshop from here: http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ .. scroll down to Adobe Photoshop CS2 under Digital imaging. It's a great program.

You can save as .gif in MS Paint.

Also a other good free alternative to Photoshop (I don't really want to pay hundreds of pounds for it . . . ) is the gimp :
