i was working on a praching i had heard so i was going to pray in a church, the preachings i listen to are broadcasted from america. But the pastor said it was good to pray in church as you made the effort to go there.

i walked to the parish church saw the gates were open but then reliezed that the gates into the church were locked. so i walked to another church, this time it was open i knew it would be. But i did not want to go in, i have never been into a catholic church, although i was christened a protestant i dont really belong in a particular church, i'm still looking for a branch. However i know some of the views of the catholic faith and know of the friction between protestant and catholic faith. i dont personally think it makes a great difference, although i understand others may see it differently.

so i stood outside for a while read all the signs and walked to the doors. Is it ok if you are christian to pay in a catholic church, i dont want to offend in their church. i looked into catholic faith previously but i dont speak or read latin or use a rosary.

is it ok to pray in their church?

It's OK to pray and go to services in a Catholic church, but they specifiy that you must be a member of their church to take part in Communion.

1. Catholics are Christian. Christian is a broad category into which Catholic, Christian, and Orthodox fall.

2. We don't check ID at the door to see if you're in the club. Come on in! The official stance is, I believe, we welome other denominations. Just don't participate in the Eucharist unless you're Anglican. There might be others that are close enough for government work, but Anglicans I am aware of.

My church prints such things on some bulletin or other.

Is the Eucharist the blood and body of christ?  Because i'm not particularly religious and I participated in that at my best friend's parish.

they aren't going to stop you doing that. it's just not an accepted part of other demonimations' beliefs. for an anglican it would be like a free snack i guess.

I know about the bad things said about the Catholic church.  I see them myself about going against the Bible in some of their beliefs.

I think it's fine for you to go pray there.  I don't think people will go up to you and ask you if you are Catholic.

I went into one in Manhattan, did the cross in holy water bit (as i was lapsing out of christanity, so thought it was approprate), and hell, even donated a dollar and lit a little while candle, as far as I know, no lighting struck me I'm not dammed to hell (at least for that :P), and I didn't get the plague, so I think you'll be fine!

The churches' doors are always open to anyone willing to listen.  Go on in and take a seat and pray if thats what you'd like.

I am a protestant, (specifically Presbyterian) and as apart of my Confirmation I was to listen to another church service to try and open my mind.  Some of my friends went to Mormon and Islam churches.  I went to a local Catholic church.  It was different than what I was used to (that was the point of the whole lesson) with all the ups and downs, but it was a very meaningful sermon that taught me some very good lessons.

Afterwards, I talked with the priest with my mentor, who thought it was a very good thing that we were doing.  We all believe that Christ is our savior even though we have our petty differences.  You should be welcome in any church that you wanted to.

Beware though, some religions do have their rules.  If you went to a Catholic church and are not catholic, you can't take communion.

I hope I help you out

Shaun
