I have no number one favorite. But:
1)Stephen King (for his horror novel, Christine)
1)J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter, duh)
1)Albert Payson Terhune (for his Collie books(

I also like Edgar Rice Burroughs for his Martian books.

My least favorite author is definetly that hooker who wrote "Little Women"

I have a few favorite authors...

For one, J.K. Rowling. If you don't know the books she writes, then you live in a box.

One of my other favorite authors is Chris Crutcher. He writes young adult novels that include many controversial issues. My favorite novel written by him is Ironman, although that may be because I have it autographed. :P

Robert Cormier is also a great author, basically the creator of the young adult genre.

My favorite author is Tom Clancy. My favorite book would have to be Rainbow six. Tom Clancy has this amazing way with words. He will draw you deeper and deeper into his world until there is no return. Until all you see and all you do revolves around what happens on the next page. You get to the point where you can hear the sounds of battle and see the soldiers scrambling wildly, trying to survive just one more minute, doging that one bullet so they can return home to their families. His descriptions are vivid. They shake your soul when you read them. Sorry got lost on a tangent.
